Teen Wolf: Movie Plot Summary
Teen Wolf: The Movie is a reunion movie based on the MTV television show Teen Wolf. It follows a pack in their 30s living their lives away from Beacon Hills. But, as fate would have it, they retreat to their hometown after the mysterious appearance of their dead friend Allison. They hope to appease him by performing a ritual, but it ends up bringing him back to life.
And what would have been a joyous meeting ends in blood and tears as an evil scheming spirit, the nogitsune has plans for the newly resurrected Allison. But with several intricate storylines intertwined and the absence of a fan favorite, Stiles and his relationship with Lydia (responsible for one of the prettiest ships - the Stydia) left viewers with a few questions. So what really happens in Teen Wolf: The Movie?
Why is the pack returning to Beacon Hills?
15 years after the events of Teen Wolf, all the characters in the show have gone their separate ways. However, after a mysterious man frees the nogitsune from Liam and the kitsune Hikari, Scott, Lydia, and Chris Argent begin to hallucinate Allison, who was killed by the nogitsune one fateful night.
They all return to Beacon Hills because they believe they must perform a ritual to appease his spirit. They ask Jackson and Malia for help to complete the ritual. Meanwhile, Liam returns to town to report that the nogitsune has escaped.
What happens to the relationships built on the show?
Although Scott and Malia were together in the show's finale, the movie shows them breaking up and now being awkward but friendly enough to help each other when needed. Instead, it ends with Allison at the end of the movie.
Realizing that she likes men at the end of the show, Jackson started dating Ethan and is still with him. Stiles and Lydia are separated, and Derek is a single father with his 15-year-old son, Eli. While Liam and Hikari are together, Chris Argent has a strained relationship with Scott's mother, Melissa.
How does Allison come back from the dead to help the nogitsune?
Beacon Hills chemistry teacher Adrian Harris, who was killed while Scott was fighting a druid, returns from the dead. In revenge, he releases the nogitsune guarded by Liam.
However, he only has a select few memories, which allows the trickster to manipulate him into wanting to kill Scott and Derek. She shows him visions of her dead mother and tells her that Scott killed her. He fatally wounds Scott and lures his father Chris, Melissa and Peter Hale to the lacrosse field near the entrance to his world where he will make his final move.
What's the Nogitsune's plan?
Anyone stabbed by the Oni's sword, including Mason, Liam, Derek, Sheriff Stilinski, Deaton, Eli, and Hikari, disappears. They are teleported to the nogitsune world and bound. With a cunning spirit, he tries to play tricks on the pack by bringing everyone to the lacrosse field where the match is taking place.
Meanwhile, Harris burns Rowan trees to create enough mountain ash to cover the entire lacrosse field. This prevents supernatural creatures from leaving the field. Scott figures the nogitsune will kill all his friends and 10,000 audience members. When the pack is cornered and nearly defeated, the nogitsune accepts Scott's surrender and tells Allison to shoot him in the heart.
Scott uses Hikari's kitsune shield to protect him, and while the nogitsune is surprised, the gang overpowers him and Allison shoots him. But instead of dying, the nogitsune reveals that it is also a werewolf, causing Derek, Eli, and Scott to become delusional.
How does Allison get her memories back?
Allison initially refuses to listen to Scott and fatally wounds him. When he tells her his motto is to protect the weak, he remembers it, but pushes the memory aside. When he brings her to a barn on the lacrosse field, she again asks him to give her a chance. He says that she died in his arms and that the nogitsune manipulated her.
She finally got tired of his pleas and agreed to listen to him. He hands her his wallet and she notices that he has a picture of Stiles and Lydia together from when they went to the ice rink. He remembers the ice rink and he goes further. He tells her about the high school dance and how he told her he loved her for the first time. He only remembers Jackson and Lydia, but Scott is undeterred.
She heals him by burning his wound with a torch and gets the memories of the time he was captured and almost killed himself with the torch. But she doesn't quite remember him and leaves to find the one man she did - her father.
Stydia - What happened to Stiles and Lydia?
Trying to stop Harris from killing Jackson, Lydia shares her pain and tells him she's broken up with Stiles. She says she has recurring dreams about her and Stiles in the car accident. He's alive, but Stiles is dying. He continued to dream and wondered if it was a premonition and would come true if he stayed with her.
Derek realizes that Eli has become part of Scott's gang and that someone needs to capture the nogitsune to kill him. He pushes Scott to look at him as Eli's alpha and tells Parrish to light him and the nogitsune.
