Episode Recap
As Eun-woo leaves, Poong follows and says he overheard her conversation with the princess. He asks her if she will leave him after she regains her skills. She tells Eun-woo that she won't marry the Prince and that her heart belongs to someone else as she looks at Eun-woo.
The prince returns to the governor's office when he finds Governor Ahn insulting his officers and calling them lowborn. He breaks down her door and hurts her hand to scold her. He is rushed to Gyesoo's clinic, where he tells them that he will only be treated by Poong.
The Governor tells Ahn Gye that the Prince is crazy and badmouthing him. Gye is upset but wonders about the Prince. While being treated by Poong, the Princess tells her that she should marry him because she is kind. He tells her that he is not a good person and that he loves the one who saved him.
He even mentions that the Princess should have married the son of the State Councilor, whom he called a scoundrel. He's upset that Poong loves Eun-woo, who says he doesn't love her and breaks down the door.
The next day, Poong tells Eun-woo that there is a situation that has caused the Prince to become obsessed with him, angry, and angry with his ex-fiancé. He even tells her that the Prince doesn't love her, he just dreams of her. He and Eun-woo would already be married if people married whoever they thought they were at first sight. They are distraught by her statement and she rushes to tell the King about the Princess.
The king apologizes for the prince's behavior and points out that he was born low, so his fathers cherished him. Pung promises to help her and goes to visit the State Councilor.
At Gyesoo, the staff invite the Prince to have a snack with him. They also overlook her obsession with Poong because she prefers a kind person rather than handsome because he is better looking than her ex-fiancé Poong. Eun-woo realizes that Prince still loves his ex-fiancé.
While nursing her hand, the Princess asks Eun-woo why she chose to become an inferior doctor. Eun-woo says that she doesn’t care about status, but if the Princess does, why did she reject the State Councilor’s son? He gets angry and breaks another door.
Gye asks Court Lady Jung why the Prince is so angry and calls him a thug. He is upset that he insulted the princess. But for a long time she kept their conversation going, saying that she was impressed by how patient she was with the prince.
Poong tells Gye and Eun-woo that the King told him that the Prince disappeared before the wedding, and wonders if there is something between him and his fiancé. Eun-woo also tells her that the Prince found her ex-fiancé prettier, and realizes that Pung is using her.
Yoon Ji-ho, the son of a member of the State Council, comes to Gyesu when he hears that Poong is looking for him, saying that he will protect the Princess from him. They see Prince come out and Poong hides Ji-ho. Outside, the rest of Gyesoo tries to hear their conversation, but can't.
The next day, Gyesoo asks Poong and Eun-woo to reenact the incident between Ji-ho and Princess. Poong gets upset and everyone else gets upset. Apparently, Ji-ho confessed his love while recalling the miscarriage that hurt the Prince's feelings, drawing Darcy. They decide to help Ji-ho with the princess.
They send Jang-goon to distract the Prince while they teach Ji-ho how to talk to a woman. Man-bok and Nam-hae try to help, but he continues to speak bluntly, much to their dismay. Eun-woo wonders if she can memorize the words she needs to say to the princess.
Meanwhile, Court Lady Jung tries to calm the Prince, who is worried that her plan to marry Poong isn't working out. He tells her that love shouldn't be forced and gives her romance novels to mend her broken heart. Eun-woo arrives and asks him to recommend a novel full of sweet love confessions, and Prince gives him Goblin's Tale (yes, the same remarkable 2017 K-drama).
Court Lady Jung goes to the bookstore to buy more books for Princess and Gye walks in and helps her as she tries to get one. He flirts with her and she seems moody.
At Gyesoo, Poong and Eun-woo write down confessions from romance novels to help Ji-ho remember them. Pung reads one of Eun-woo's heart-pounding confessions, and she is irritated by his reaction. They laugh and she decides to try reading more confessions.
Meanwhile, Gye asks Court Lady Yung for help. She doesn't trust him, but she decides to do as he wants. He goes and puppets Prince, who is suspicious. Jung tries to get her out, and when she doesn't listen, he insults her and runs off, only for the Prince to chase after her. He leads her to the forest where Gyesoo and Ji-ho are waiting.
As Nam-hae tries to help her reenact confessions from K-dramas like Descendants of the Sun , she keeps messing up. When that doesn't work, he tells the truth and remembers when they first met. Man-bok and Jang-goon throw flower petals at the couple for visual effects.
But the princess is angry that they destroyed their memories together and throws away her shoe. He hits the beehive and the bees attack them. Ji-ho immediately covers him with his body and lets the bees sting him.
They look at Ji-ho, who is upset that he failed at Gyesoo. Eun-woo cheers her up by saying that her actions speak louder than her words. Pung walks out and sees Prince, who says nothing will change, and runs away. He tells Ji-ho that he shouldn’t miss out on those in front of him, like his love, and asks what’s really hurting him.
He says that although she is the daughter of a king, her mother never became a concubine of the king and people look down on her. Poong tells her to do what she loves and forget about everyone else. He apologizes for using Poong and agrees not to run.
He goes to Ji-ho and scolds him for his recklessness. He also apologizes for misunderstanding her and they make up. Outside, Poong and Eun-woo are happy, but he's upset that he can't heal the pain the Prince inflicted on Eun-woo when he chased her. He asks Eun-woo if he’ll really leave her after he gets his abilities back, and he says no. They hug and Poong is relieved.
The next day, while waiting for the Prince to leave, Gye and Court Lady Jung share a moment as they thank him for his help. They walk away together and the rest of Gyesoo is shocked. Elsewhere, Prince gives Eun-woo an apology gift, and the latter tells him to focus on the present. The princess finds it funny that Eun-woo's advice is similar to Poong's.
In the warehouse, he gives Jung Gye a patterned napkin as a gift. He also said that he was a palace servant whom he had saved before saving the previous queen, and therefore he had to leave the palace. He thanks her for that and she wonders why he was rude to her before. She said she was upset that she didn't know him and that she could keep in touch through letters. He is delighted and they give a rosy promise.
That night, Gwang-il walks in the forest and looks worried. He is later found wounded and bleeding and brought to Gyesso, where the rest are shocked.
Episode Review
Honestly, fans of Poong The Joseon Psychiatrist can't help but cheer every time a K-drama decides to ditch the usual cliché of jealousy and obstacles between an established couple.
Of course, they give us tons of red herrings as Poong tells Eun-woo that Prince doesn’t love her. However, they do not succumb to immature actions because they are quick to reconcile and always remain in the land of hearts and flowers.
It looks like Ji-ho is healing the prince from a broken heart and insult for once, but it's fun to see how he keeps up with her. And as we've said before, even though Prince may seem cocky and angry, we can't help but hate him because he has very valid reasons for feeling the way he does.
